“Life at the Castle“ exhibition offers an insight into the daily life of 19th century Austrian aristocracy. Visitors to the exhibition will experience a journey into the past. As you make your way through the gallery, you will not only encounter numerous paintings, but also various architectural influences: a Romanesque portal, Gothic spiral staircase, early Baroque stucco ceiling, etc.
The Historic Garden is a sea of roses and colour flowerbeds. Located somewhat higher on the hill lies Siegmund's garden, a breathtaking example of landscape design. The garden also presents a brief history of garden design and the development of the art of gardening from the Middle Ages until today.
Gironcoli Museum is an impressive exhibition dedicated to the work of the Austrian artist, Bruno Gironcoli. The museum houses over 30 of Gironcoli’s larger-than-life works as permanent exhibits. Museum architect Hermann Eisenköck’s bold design present a fascinating link between tradition and modernity.
Designated a Natura 2000 site, the wooded gorge and dry rocky slopes the around Herberstein Castle create the optimal habitat for rare insects, as well as a wide variety flora and fauna.
