Riegersburg Palace

Riegersburg Palace is one of the most stunning examples of Baroque architecture in Austria. Once the residence of the Lord Chamberlain of Empress Maria Theresa, Prince Johann Joseph Khevenhüller-Metsch, this magnificent historic treasure lies between Vienna and Prague, on the banks of an idyllic pond. The state rooms are fully furnished with 18th - mid-19th century European furniture. Other highlights include the historic kitchen designed for aristocrats and the oldest dog cemetery in the Moravian-Bohemian-Austrian region. Riegersburg Palace is a mere 8 km away from Thayatal National Park and the famous Hardegg Castle. Visitors who would like to experience a journey into the past should view the permanent exhibition at the palace: "Aristocratic Country Life in the Baroque Period".
